About DIY Craft Studio

My love of crafting began as a child, I can remember teaching the other girls on the elementary school playground how to crochet and make Barbie doll clothes. My mother and grandmother were both professional seamstresses. I have many cherished memories of the times I spent taking various crafting classes with my mom.

As we grow up, and life sort of takes over, our passions get put aside as other things and people take the forefront. I was blessed to have one of my very best friends, Sue ignite that fire. Talk about a truly talented crafter that excelled in everything! What a talent and passion! Sue would gather a group of us lucky women together on a Sunday around her dining table to do a project. At first I was very reluctant, I just had to much to do, on my only day off. As time went on we crafted for causes, making blankets for the Chemo dept., baby blankets for hospitals and raffle prizes for the Relay for Life. I am sure there were others. Sue was driven to share her skill, she had a wish and drive to teach the younger generation, to keep crafts alive. Unfortunately her time was cut short, as with my mom in her last years I watched her forge new friendships as she taught sewing to the blind at the Lighthouse for Blind. With these two great women in my heart I hope to do my part to continue their legacy and to make it mine with the help of a lot of talented people with the same desire to share, I do believe it takes a village. Be a part, as we learn we are the student, when we share we are the teacher. I hope you join us, spread your wings, create and have fun while making new friends.
